This is the second time I’ve found peanut butter here. Another store had Reese’s peanut butter but I don’t like creamy style peanut butter, so I waited. It’s not as sweet as what I ate in Texas but that’s not really a bad thing.

We mixed some with a mashed up banana and spread it on white bread. Fantastic.

This Is How I Roll

Until I eventually upgrade to a motorcycle, I am content with my scooter. Before this year, anyone over the age of 14 could drive a scooter without a license. I’ve considered getting a Russian driver’s license for some time, but this gave me the final push.

Some people may scoff at driving a little scooter, but the thing is, all the power at your disposal with a motorcycle is usually a waste in city traffic. You may sound super cool shifting gears as you barrel down the street, but a traffic light or intersection will be coming up soon. Plus, it’s much easier to get around tough traffic on a scooter. The downside is, you are so small and slow, you have to drive defensively at all times. You have to take the path of least resistance.

Still, I can’t imagine driving between Perm and Kudymkar on a scooter. It would be madness to attempt such a feat. :) This is where a motorcycle will come in handy. I look forward to giving it a try.

Finally. I received my driver’s license today. Starting this year, you need a license to driver scooters in Russia, so I decided I might as well go for the motorcycle license. So, now I can pull my scooter out of the closet and hit the streets. :)

Another Food Post

A friend said I post too much about food, so here is another entry. :)

Spoiled milk? Actually, it’s kefir, a fermented milk beverage. A woman from my mother-in-law’s church gave her some kefir grains. These are a combination of yeast and bacteria, which work together to make kefir. These are placed in a jar which is then filled with milk. After about a day you end up with kefir, which tastes sort of like buttermilk.

Now we have some of the grains and are making kefir ourselves.

Frijoles Refritos - домашний :)

After several attempts, they finally turned out more or less like I remember. Well, I can’t get a can of Rosarita refried beans here. Besides, fresh refried beans taste better.
